Today we discussed “Why I Am Not Going to Buy a Computer” by Wendell Berry. The book contains two essays which discuss why the author has decided not to buy a computer.
Wendell Berry argues that computers are harmful for the environment, reduce the quality of writing, and are a needless expense for consumers. He also discusses feminism and the role women play in work and the modern industrial economy.
Wendell Berry, born 5 August 1934, is a writer and environmentalist, who owns and works on his farm. As a group, we discussed his arguments, and weighed the merits of his claims and conclusions.
